Galway Music Residency announces unique opportunity for Galway Trad musicians, singers and dancers, to participate in a workshop with Estonian Electronic Artist Sander Saarmets

Application Deadline Extended: 31st October

We are delighted to announce a workshop opportunity for Traditional Irish musicians, singers and dancers with our International Guest Artist in Residence 2024, Sander Saarmets. Saarmets is an Electronic Artist and Composer from Estonia who will be in residence with Galway Music Residency in November and December this year.

Over a two-day period, Sander will lead workshops with advanced students and emerging artists, exploring music fusion between trad and electronic music. This music and cultural exchange will result in one group or performer being chosen to perform with Sander as part of Galway Music Residency’s popular 3 Kinds of Music series on 14 December in The Mick Lally Theatre.

To apply for this opportunity, please email info@thegalwaymusicresidency.ie by Thursday 31st October with a CV/biog and a 1-page letter explaining your reasons for applying and your suitability for the initiative.

Applicants must be available on 30th November and 1st December to take part. The workshops will be on an individual and/or group basis depending on the successful applicants chosen. This is a FREE initiative. Places are limited and will be offered based on assessments by a selection panel. Advanced students and emerging artists are invited to apply. Individual artists and groups are welcome to apply but as places are limited, it is unlikely that large groups can be accommodated. A fee will be provided for the 3 Kinds of Music performance.
