Making Music Possible

'We are the music makers, and we are the dreamer of dreams'

Help us Make Music

Galway Music Residency has a simple but powerful mission. We exist to serve the people of Galway, providing opportunities for all to experience the joy of music in new and unexpected ways. We do this primarily for free and anyone is welcome at our activities. Because everyone has the right to listen to, learn about and love music.

Music Makers! Come on this journey with us. Help us make many generations of musicians and music lovers in Galway and beyond.

You can make music possible for all.

The initial idea of Galway Music Residency was to expand interest in classical music in Galway across different communties. Getting to disadvantaged communities and creating opportunities to experience classical music. I’m from a rural background and I didn’t hear the words classical music once through my primary and secondary education. As a Music Maker I want to help GMR to open the wonderful notes of classical music to more communities, more of the time.” – Michael Cuddy, Music Maker

Joining our Music Maker Circle is simple. By donating either €50 or €100, you are empowering us to connect with more communities, making the magic of music possible for everyone.

Play it Forward

As a member of the Music Makers Circle, you can gift a Music Maker membership to family member or friends. This way you are not only helping us to Make Music possible for more people in Galway, you are giving that person an opportunity to experience the joy of music themselves by introducing them to our work.

“It is so nice to be greeted at the door. To have a friendly face. A lot of people might not have had a conversation that day, so it does make a difference … People feel at home and welcomed at the concerts - particularly for people starting out in this music. There’s a misconception that it’s an elite pursuit. People are intimidated by it, or tentative about it – but Galway Music Residency takes this away and opens the door to the world of music to everyone – what better gift to give! – Pauline Foley, Music Maker
