This concert takes place at 5pm in the evocative Irish Workhouse Centre, Portumna on Sunday 3rd September.

Following the concert, Shorelines Arts Festival will officially open its Festival exhibition at 6pm! The exhibition, spread over three galleries, will feature work by local artists and three invited artists: Fergus A. Ryan, Josephine Geaney and Annemiek Hamelink.

In addition, the Workhouse is hosting three other exhibitions: Otherworldly Wonders of our Bogs & Wetlands by Tina Claffey: Macro Photography; Dark Shadows by Kieran Tuohy: Sculptures in bog oak; Famine Artworks by David Rooney: Engravings on printed panels.

ConTempo Quartet is the resident ensemble of Galway Music Residency and was RTE’s Resident Quartet from 2014 until 2019. Praised as a “fabulous foursome” (Irish Independent) and noted for performances which are “exceptional” (The Strad) and “full of imaginative daring” (The Irish Times), ConTempo Quartet has forged a unique place in Irish musical life.

Galway Music Residency is proudly supported by the Arts Council of Ireland, University of Galway (Education Partner), and Galway City and County Councils. For further information, visit www.galwaymusicresidency.ie
